High Performance Development is delighted to announce that The Ellen MacArthur Trust will be it's nominated charity.
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness.
The Trust was launched by the internationally-renowned sailor Ellen MacArthur on 2nd January 2003. In Ellen’s words:
"These are really special kids. In many ways they are just they same as everyone else, they are interested in the same things as kids their age, they have the same goals in life, but the difference is that they do this with a huge challenge ahead of them.
I face challenges out on the water, but these are challenges that I choose to do. They on the other hand don't have this luxury. They battle against something harder than many of us could ever imagine and they do it with the biggest smiles on their faces. To me they are truly inspirational and if the EMT can help them in their battle in any way then that is a fantastic achievement."
HPD will be running teambuilding programmes for the children involved with the Trust to help build confidence and prepare them for their sailing adventures.

At High Performance Development, we believe that the best way to learn is through practising new behaviours in the most realistic scenarios possible. We are also convinced by the growing importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to our clients, particularly in light of the recognition that it is closely linked to business success.
Our experience shows that providing a team with a live community challenge not only offers substantial benefits to that particular community, it also results in a team that shares a real sense of achievement and fulfilment. But the most compelling reason for using such a challenge is that it provides a powerful and compelling tool for facilitating learning.
High Performance Development is proud to be working closely with Community Service Volunteers (CSV) to carefully design community projects (Team Challenges) that closely relate to the combined learning objectives and CSR objectives of our clients. These challenges will involve the team from the initial meeting with the community organisation and may include tasks such as fundraising for/sourcing equipment.

HPD's ethos of developing individuals, teams and organisations is being lifted to another level by our newly formed partnership with The University of Bath's Sports Development Department, Team Bath.
In order to perform consistently at a high level, teams and individuals must be equipped with the relevant technical knowledge, management skills, a strong leadership and teamworking ability, emotional intelligence and lifestyle management.
Some executives thrive under pressure, others wilt. Sustained high achievement demands physical and emotional strength as well as a sharp intellect. Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz authors of the Corporate Athlete say that to bring mind, body and spirit to peak condition, executives need to learn what world class athletes already know: recovering energy is as important as expending it.
By combining HPD's experience working with high performing corporate teams and individuals, with Team Bath's experience of developing world class athletes we can now offer programmes which draw upon valuable lessons learnt from both worlds enabling your people to perform at much higher levels.

We are very excited to announce that HPD has been chosen to run the selection process and development training for The UK Yacht Racing Academy. We will be assessing and developing all areas of the off-water elements including teambuilding, physical fitness, motivation and lifestyle management.
The new Yacht Racing Academy will provide young people with training, mentoring and inspiration to become the world class racing sailors of tomorrow. Peter Harrison and Kit Hobday have joined forces with the UK Sailing Academy and High Performance Development Ltd. to create an academy of yacht racing excellence.
The UKSA has a history of training round the world sailors, the most recent being Dee Caffari who is attempting to sail solo around the world against the prevailing winds and tides in a 72ft Challenge yacht. Also, the UKSA's youth racing scheme which ran in the late 90's was a great training ground for some of our Olympic medal winners and was a huge success. The Academy are now drawing upon this experience and combining the wealth of knowledge from both Peter Harrison and Kit Hobday to create a top level racing academy.
