Mark teaches Chinese Martial arts and Healing arts, specialising in the
Internal Schools. He is an expert in many systems including Tai Chi
Chuan, Wing Chun Kung Fu, several styles of Chi Kung and Meditation.
Marks’ interest in Martial arts began in early childhood, coming from a
family with a strong military tradition. He was introduced to the internal
schools in 1991 when he began to study Wing Chun. A few years later
he decided to widen the scope of his training, taking up Tai Chi, Chi
Kung and meditation with a focus on the medical and philosophical
aspects of the arts. During that period Mark received his Ph.D from
University College London for research on the pharmacology and
physiology of pain. He pursued a scientific career for several years,
published numerous papers and was invited to speak at a number of
institutions including the Royal Society for Medicine.
In 2001 Mark was awarded the title of Sifu (teacher) and decided to leave research to
teach the internal arts full-time. Mark is one of few instructors qualified
in both Eastern and Western medical science, and able to explain the
benefits of oriental healing arts and meditation from both perspectives.
Since that time Mark has continued to deepen his study of the Chinese
Arts.
He has had the opportunity to train with many world famous
Masters, from both China and the West. He teaches in London at
several exclusive Martial Arts Schools and Holistic Centres. His corporate
clients, past and present, include Goldman Sachs, Deutchebank,
Lovells, American Express, Glaxo Smith Kline, TenUK, The Royal College
of Art, Kensington Village, Two Way Television, Another Tongue.
